Representatives from the National Citizen Service (NCS) programme will be visiting Beckfoot Thornton in February and March to give Y11/12 students the chance to sign up for an exciting Summer opportunity.
NCS is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for students in Y11 and Y12 that builds skills and confidence whilst helping them get ahead in work and life. It’s a fun, productive and challenging way to spend part of their summer holiday. NCS is recognised by UCAS and the experience is great to demonstrate skills to universities, colleges and future employers.
The part-residential programme runs for approximately 3 weeks of the summer holidays. Each NCS place is valued at over £1,300 but due to government support we ask for no more than £50, with financial support available if needed.

Many congratulations to the 66 students from Beckfoot Thornton who took part in NCS in 2016. They are now part of a network of over 200,000 NCS graduates across the UK, opening up doors to a wealth of exclusive internships, volunteering and skills opportunities. Good luck with your next steps!
NCS in Bradford, Leeds and Wakefield is delivered by The Challenge, a national charity that is committed to working with Beckfoot Thornton to ensure current and future Y11s and Y12s have the opportunity to participate and to share their NCS achievements with the school and wider community.
