Headteacher’s Blog 01/03/2019

Welcome to my blog.

Year 12 have today finished their mock exams. They have a busy week next week too as the whole cohort are out of school on work experience. We wish them well.

Year 11 have finished the first week of their mock exams, another week to go!

This weekend sees the launch of the exciting Saturday school programme, with small group tuition in English and Maths for some of our Year 11 students. A slap-up breakfast is also being provided! We hope that by devoting their Saturday mornings to extra study, students will get much better results in their GCSE’s in June.

Well done to all students that attended revision sessions during half-term. The level of commitment shown by students is fantastic!

On Monday, 54 of our students attended the Bradford Winter Games 2019 at Hanson Academy to represent the school in various Sports and Sports Leadership roles, including assisting with the scoring and officiating of competitions.

Our Year 9 Girls and Year 10 boys finished in 2nd and 3rd place respectively at Basketball.

Our Year 8 Boys also finished in 3rd place at the Secondary Sportshall Athletics event.

Year 10 Sports Leaders Maleehah, Laiba and Ayra did a fantastic job supporting PE Staff at the Sportshall Athletics competition!

A big well done to everyone involved at this prestigious event.

It was even mentioned on the Radio 2 Zoe Ball Breakfast Show!

Beckfoot Thornton are delighted to be partaking in World Book Day on Wednesday next week. Students will each receive World Book Day tokens, allowing them to get one of the following books for free! (You may remember that author Malorie Blackman visited our school last year). Further information is on the attached poster.
