Welcome to my blog.
The weather may be wet and miserable but that has not put a dampener on our students’ enthusiasm!
We have had such a brilliant and busy week.
I am so proud of our Empowering Minds ambassadors that represented Beckfoot Thornton at Bradford City Hall on Tuesday. I was honoured to be invited.
I was truly blown away by the passion, care, respect and determination shown by our ambassadors, in their work to empower mothers to stand up against radicalisation and grooming.
On Wednesday, we were delighted to welcome student teachers from Leeds Trinity who came to work with our Year 8 students in a Maths Problem Solving Day.
Well done to Year 8, you did the school proud.
I received some very positive feedback from the student teachers, including that:
“The pupils were all lovely and easy to talk to….lovely school”
“Students well behaved”
“Thank you! Really enjoyed the day. Students engaged well – really polite and happy to ask and answer questions”
“The students themselves were delightful!”
“….respectful of visitors and interacted with us”
Yesterday, our Year 10 dance class competed at the Great Big Dance Off in Halifax.
A very well done to all involved, we came 8th. A fantastic effort.
Next week is another busy one!
On Monday some of Year 7 students will be attending the Junior Engineering Engagement Programme (JEEP).
On Tuesday we are thrilled to be having the Cambridge Roadshow visiting out Year 12 students.
I am looking forward to meeting Year 12 and Year 13 parents and families at our parents evening on Thursday.
On Friday, all of Year 12 will be attending a university and apprenticeship fair at Elland Road and our Year 11 students will receive their mock exam results in a special assembly.
