Headteacher’s Blog 10/04/2019

We are quickly approaching the end of another successful term here at Beckfoot Thornton.

Last night I had the privilege of watching our talented dance and music students perform in the Bradford Schools’ Prom at St George’s Hall.

I was astounded. Performing to a huge crowd didn’t faze our students a bit. They were professional, calm and confident and it really showed in their fantastic performance!

Year 11 are fast approaching the GCSE exam season. For some students, exams have already started, with Dance, Art and Photography exams having taken place this week.

Tomorrow, our Year 7 students involved with the Junior Engineering Engagement Project (JEEP), will be attending for another instalment of the project.

Tomorrow, West Yorkshire Police are assisting us with a project designed to prevent and intervene earlier to stop crime, prevent youths from offending, reduce the re-offending rates and to protect people from harm.

On the 2nd of April, 21 providers and employers from  visited the school, to give our Year 10 students mock interviews.

Some of the comments left by employers that attended were; “Bright students and lovely staff” “Really positive, school staff and students were all great, very polite and friendly” “A really good experience that I hope helped” “Great to provide some support and encouragement”.

On Friday, as part of the school’s work with Just Give, we will be holding a bun sale on the bridge and a crossbar challenge on the AstroTurf at break!

School finishes at 2.30pm as normal on Friday this week. Period 6 intervention sessions are still running after school for Year 11 students.

Over the Easter holidays, we are holding additional revision sessions from 9am to 12pm, for invited students in Year 11. Students have been informed.

Saturday school is running as normal this weekend and on 27th April. Saturday school is not running on 20th April, the Easter weekend.

Thank you again for your ongoing support.

I hope that you enjoy a lovely Easter break.

I look forward to welcoming your child back in to school on Monday 29th April at the usual time.
