Welcome to my blog.
What a jam-packed week we have had at Beckfoot Thornton. It has been all-go - just as we like it!
On Monday, I was delighted to meet with the families and carers of our Year 7 students that will be starting here in September. I hope that you found the evening helpful. If you have any queries, please do get in touch.
On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, the students themselves came in for Transition. Transition provides students with an opportunity to become familiar with the school setting, expectations and generally how great it is to be part of Beckfoot Thornton. Students’ got off to a fantastic start. They were very well behaved and positively engaged in all of the activities on offer. I have to say how impressed I was with the singing of the year group song, “This is me”!
Huge thanks to all of our students that assisted with the Transition events this week. Your helpfulness, kindness and sensitivity towards our new students was invaluable.
Eleven of our students ventured to Worcester College this week for a 3 day residential trip, as part of their involvement with the Brilliant Club. Students’ had a fantastic time and got to see just what university life can look like!
You may recall my post in November about our boxing star Amar, who is now in Year 10. I was delighted to meet with him earlier and discover that in his fight on 23rd June, he became the Hull Box Cup Champion. Well done Amar, you have done so well!
Our Year 8 rugby team have had success this week, winning the Bradford Schools Rugby League trophy. The boys showed great passion and determination to finish off a very impressive season. Very well done to the team; Jayden (player of the tournament – 5 try’s in 2 games!), Zain, Brodie, Etienne, Hasnain, Alfie L, Evan, Charlie, Josh, Oliver, Blake, Logan, Alfie J, and Joel. Absolutely fantastic!
I am delighted to say that on Monday, Beckfoot Thornton has the privilege of hosting the annual Oxford regional conference! I will let you know how we got on in my next blog.
