Headteacher’s Blog 17/07/2019

What a fantastic year we have had here at Beckfoot Thornton.

We have seen marked improvements in behaviour and attendance and the vibe around school is positively electric – something our visitors frequently comment on.

Our students have shown real enthusiasm and dedication to their education and have worked exceptionally hard this year.

To complement our challenging and engaging curriculum, students’ have had the opportunity to partake in a wide range of personal development opportunities - enjoying an abundance of exciting trips including visiting:

A diverse range of providers have come to work with students in school, including:

Students have undertaken work to support charities including raising money, through bake sales, for FirstGive and Children in Need and by collecting food items for the Bradford Metropolitan Food Bank. I was delighted that students that took part in a FirstGive competition, won £1000 for their chosen charity, Bradford Nightstop. Lots to be proud of!

I am really looking forward to seeing our Year 13 leavers on Thursday 15th August when they collect their GCE results and our Year 11 leavers on Thursday 22nd August when they collect their GCSE results. On both days, school will be open from 9.00-11.00am.

Thank you for such a wonderful year. The support received from parents, families and our local community has been invaluable and is truly appreciated.

I hope that you have a peaceful and relaxing summer holiday.

School will close for the summer holidays on Friday 19th July at 12pm.

School will re-open on:

Tuesday 3rd September for Year 7 and Year 12 students only.

Wednesday 4th September for Year 8, 9, 10 and 11 students.

Monday 9th September for Year 13 students.
