Headteacher’s Blog 25/10/2019

Welcome to my blog.

You wouldn’t think that our students had just finished a gruelling eight week half-term, including our Ofsted inspection too. Their energy and levels of focus and determination haven't dipped once. Well done to each and every student.

It has been a busy, enjoyable and productive half-term.

Our Year 11 students continue to engage well with their after school period 6 intervention sessions. Attendance at each session has been over 90%.

After half-term, I challenge Year 11 students to outperform last years’ Year 11 cohort - they didn’t drop below 95% attendance. I see no reason why our Year 11’s can’t smash it and have our period 6 attendance at 100% each day!

Last night I was delighted to meet over 100 families at our Year 10 Preparing for Success evening. I hope that you found the evening most helpful.

Today we have surprised over 800 students from across Years 7-11, with a reward session for not receiving a single behaviour code in the month of October. Students enjoyed an hour of down time, either relaxing with friends or watching a film. In a school with 1200 students in Years 7-11, two thirds of them not receiving a behaviour code is absolutely fantastic, although there is room to improve at the next challenge!

Our Year 9 students are really looking forward to working with Leeds Beckett University, Saltaire Stories and a graphic artist, to remember the fatal fire at Valley Parade in 1985. Please see the link below for further information:

School will be closed from 2.30pm today, Friday 25th October, re-opening on Monday 4th November at the normal time.

Have a fantastic, restful half-term break.
