Headteacher’s Blog 20/12/2019

Welcome to my blog.

We made it! We have finally reached the end of a productive but gruelling term! Well done everyone.

On Monday this week I was delighted to see the families of our Year 11 students at the Year 11 parents evening and Sixth Form Open Evening. Huge thanks to our fantastic sixth form students that volunteered to help out. As always, they were a credit to the school. I hope that families found the evening most helpful.

On Wednesday, it was the highly anticipated Christmas Show. We enjoyed watching a range of very talented students perform - from singing, to dancing, to playing instruments. Not only were staff blown away, but the audience were too, here are some comments we received from members of the audience:

"I attended the Christmas performance last night and just wanted to say how much I enjoyed it. This was the first time I've been to a performance at school and I was totally blown away by all the children. Well done to all concerned.."

"Thank you to all involved in your super Christmas Concert tonight. Fantastic young talent nurtured by your hardworking staff. Great to see a school not just interested in numbers and exam results but a provider of all inclusive nurturing of differing skills and talent.
Loved it all. Thank you and well done to  your hard working and insightful staff. Much appreciated."

It was a wonderful show. I was so impressed. Students were professional and confident and their hard work really paid off.

For the last few weeks, we have been collecting donations for the Bradford Food Bank. Just look at how much we have gathered!

The donations have already been delivered to the Food Bank, ready to help those in need over the Christmas period. Thank you very much to everyone that has donated food and supplies, and to those that donated £1 in order to wear Christmas Jumpers. All proceeds have gone to the Food Bank charity.

Looking to the first week back, please remember that school is closed for students on Monday 6th January. Students will be welcomed back in to school at the normal time, on Tuesday 7th January.

On behalf of everyone at Beckfoot Thornton, I hope that you have a fantastic Christmas break. I wish you all the very best for 2020.
