Hello and welcome to my blog.
We made it! We have had an absolutely fantastic half-term here at Beckfoot Thornton.
This week, we were delighted to welcome Gary Hibberd from Cyberfort Security to our Year 10 assembly to talk about the growth sector.
On Wednesday evening, myself and Mr Fleming were thrilled to see so many families at our Duke of Edinburgh information evening. The DofE charity works with organisations across the UK to help young people gain essential skills, experience, confidence and resilience to successfully navigate adult life.
Yesterday, we were very excited to welcome an inspiring guest - Adeeba Malik CBE, to speak on Beckfoot Thornton Radio. Adeeba has been named by the Yorkshire Post as one of the top 20 influential/inspiring women from Yorkshire over the past 70 years. She is also included in the Top 50 most powerful women in the Northern Power Women List.
I also had the pleasure of attending our Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) presentation yesterday afternoon. Take a look below at the work our sixth form students have carried out. Impressive to say the least!
The following students are representing the school this afternoon in the Secondary Sportshall Athletics competition at the Bradford Winter Games 2020. Good luck to Year 7 students: Isaac, Dylan, Lewis, Ben and Raheem and to Year 8 students Charlie and Jacob who are all competing!
Year 11 students will be carrying out their mock exams for the first fortnight after half-term. Please remember to keep your foot on the gas and carry on revising hard over the holidays!
School will re-open to students at 8.15am on Monday 24th February. I hope that you enjoy a lovely half-term break.
