Headteacher’s Blog 15/05/2020

Hello and welcome to my blog.
I hope that this finds you safe and well.

This week, we were really pleased to hear from Dylan, one of our Year 7 students who is a fantastic boxer. After the lockdown ends, Dylan will be competing against hundreds of others, to win the championship IBC. If he wins, it will make him the best in his weight division in the country! Good luck!

As you will see from the work of the week pictures on Facebook, we have been inundated with spectacular work. Students have really been pushing themselves the extra mile - fantastic and well done!

You will have seen all the publicity recently following the Government’s suggestion we might soon be able to open our primary schools to Early Years, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 children. At present this is only a possibility and we will be asking parents of these children what they think in a survey later today. Please be assured, we will not be opening any of our schools until we consider the time is right and we are assessing all the Government guidance alongside the information we have from professional associations and others. We will wait for further guidance from the Government before making any decisions and will advise you as soon as possible when we do.

To ensure that we continue supporting our families as fully as possible, Free School Meal vouchers will be provided to eligible families for over the spring bank half term. As of next week, we will be moving to the national scheme, meaning that for the majority of eligible families, vouchers will come from Edenred, rather than Wonde.

During the half-term holiday, our look after provision will only be open to students of critical key workers and those that are vulnerable. School will be closed for everyone on Monday 25th May.

As always, we will keep you informed but for now, please try not to worry. We will continue to provide home learning activities, keep contact with you and support our children.
