Back into remote learning. I hope that you have found our support helpful in enabling you to help your child log on and access their lessons. We didn't have much notice, so it's been a fast turnaround. I am very grateful for your patience and for the support that you have given us, particularly whilst we have unpicked some of the technical remote learning issues. Please do keep in touch with any questions or queries. We plan to develop and improve our remote learning provision over time. On Monday morning, we are holding our first remote assembly for Y11!
As you will see from my message sent earlier on MyEd, we have had some fantastic work completed by our learners at home as well as those that have been attending our look after provision. Well done everyone! We will continue to share with you some of the best work produced by our students each week.
This week, the government cancelled all GCSE and A Level examinations. We have not yet been told how students will be assessed but it is likely that it will involve some form of teacher assessment that is based on a range of evidence. This means that it is vital that Y11 and Y13 students in particular try really hard and do their best in assignments, tests and quizzes because we may well need to draw on this information for the exam boards. We were given the choice of whether to go ahead with BTEC and vocational exams and have taken the decision to cancel these for students in Years 11, 12 and 13 so that there is parity with the other exams and so that students who missed face to face teaching because they were self-isolating are not penalised.
Next week, we have our virtual Sixth Form Open Evening. You can find further information on the school website. There is a brilliant video showcasing some of our current sixth form students!
Thank you to everyone that joined the Year 12 and Year 13 parents evening last night. It was a great turn out.
