Key Stage 5 Sports Leadership
My name is Mr Chris Kellett, I am Head of the PE and Dance faculty. During the academic year 2018-2019, I am running the key stage 5 Sports Leadership programme. This is available to both year 12 and 13 students who have an interest in sport and PE, or are just wanting to gain experience of working with young people as an enrichment activity.
The students will be involved in either practical or theory based PE, or dance lessons that best suit their POST 16 studies and their timetable (This will be agreed between myself and the student). They will work with small groups during the lesson helping them reach the objectives set by the class teacher and where appropriate plan and lead part of the sessions under the supervision of the class teacher. In addition, they will be expected to attend a 1-1, or group meeting each half-term with myself to discuss the programme and any issues that they may have encountered.
When helping in lessons they will:
· Gain experience of working with young people from different abilities in different settings
· Improve their confidence
· Improve communication skills
· Gain valuable experience in the teaching of PE and Dance
· Improve their organisation skills
· Work as a team with the class teacher
· Work using their own initiative and ideas
· Help the planning of the sports days held in July 2019
As a reward for their attendance at the sessions (95%+) and a positive review from the class teacher each half-term, they will receive a fitness suite pass that they can use for the next half term. Students involved will also receive priority places on recreational activities where possible, as well as a glowing UCAS / job reference if required.
Please feel free to contact me on firstname.lastname@example.org should you require any more information.
