Headteacher's Blog 01/10/2021
Welcome to my blog.
It appears that summer is now well and truly over. What a lot of rain we have had this week!
However bad the weather has been, it hasn’t dampened our spirits.
Students have really been knuckling down and impressing us with their brilliant work.
On Thursday, I met with students from across the school who had created the best pieces of work last week. The theme was ‘Recreate it’. Year 9 stole the show with so many nominations! Well done to all. Their work is available to view on the homepage of the school website.
Yesterday, our Year 7 students were involved in the Rock Assembly an exciting careers themed event. They all had a great time.
After it had to be cancelled in 2020 due to Covid, we were thrilled that today, 164 of our Year 9 students went on a trip to the Alhambra Theatre to see David Walliams’ ‘Gangsta Granny’.
The behaviour from the Year 9 students was brilliant. They arrived back in to school this afternoon having had a fabulous time.
We are thoroughly delighted to see ex-student Muhammad Amar Farooq in the Telegraph and Argus for becoming the Yorkshire Champion in the 63kg category in September. Well done! It is great to see you progressing! We are very proud of you and all that you have and continue to achieve.

Next week, students in years 7, 8 and 9 will be completing their reading tests.
Below, you will find a really useful link to help keep your child safe whilst on social media:

If you have not already had chance to see it, please have a look at the information on the school website about the Consultation on the proposed closure of Sixth Form Provision and Changes to Admission Arrangements for Year 12 and 13 at Beckfoot Thornton.
Your feedback would be very helpful.
Have a lovely weekend.
