Headteacher's Blog 10/09/2021
Welcome to my blog.
I hope that everyone had a fantastic summer.
I was thoroughly delighted to see our students return to school this week. They showed up in their droves, dressed smartly, with positive attitudes and smiles on their faces, ready to get back into learning.
On Tuesday, just our Year 7 and Year 12 students were in school.
They had the opportunity to meet their teachers, meet other students in their year group and get to grips with the layout of the school. It was lovely to see the Year 7 students enjoying their lunch outside on our picnic benches.
Year 12 have thoroughly impressed us this week. My first thought was how smart and professional they all look; suited and booted and ready to study!
On Wednesday, students from all year groups except Year 13, returned to school.
We were so used to seeing students in year group bubbles last term. It was fantastic to see all year groups being allowed to once again mingle and interact with each other.
Students in all year groups have really done both themselves, and the school very proud this week. One of the biggest things about returning back to 'normal', has been the re-introduction of our one-way system.
Of course, we have had some students understandably getting a little lost, but they have demonstrated how resilient they are and have asked for help, either from staff or from their peers.
We understand that learning the one-way system, room locations and timetables takes a little time, so if your child has come home worrying about it, please reassure them. We - staff and students alike, are all having to re-learn what 'normal' is. It's a journey we are on together.
Next week, all students from all year groups will return, including our Year 13 students. We can't wait to see them.
We hope that all of our students have had a fantastic first week back at Beckfoot Thornton. Roll on next week!
