Headteacher's Blog 28/05/2021

We have now reached the end of the half-term. It has been fantastic to have our students and staff back in the building!

School will close to all students at 2.35pm on Friday 28th May 2021 to allow us all to have a break, recharge, and to come back to school refreshed for the remaining half of the summer term.

During the half-term holiday, homework will not be set on Microsoft Teams.

School will resume for students in Years 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12 on Monday 7th June 2021 at the normal time.

Friday 28th May 2021 has been the final day in school for our current Year 11 and Year 13 students after which, they will be on study leave. Here are some photos of some of Year 11 leavers:

Although not on site, Year 11 students do not officially leave us until June 24th, the day of their prom! To help support their transition, we will be providing them a remote learning package including careers, EtonX, a range of key skills activities in their GCSE subjects as well as projects for subjects they may be studying with us at A level. This can all be accessed through www.satchelone.com on our school Show My Homework platform.

We wish our year 13's every success in the next stage of their careers and to enable them to do this, we have enrolled them all on the EtonX course in creative problem solving, which they can access online. Keep your eyes peeled for taster sessions for our KS5 courses on Teams too - students will be sent personal invites.

We look forward to seeing our students on Tuesday 10th August for A Level Results Day and Thursday 12th August for GCSE Results Day.

Free school meal vouchers will not be issued to cover the holiday period. During the half-term holiday, support is available for food for any family that needs it. Details can be found on at www.beckfoottrust.org/about-us/our-trust/support-for-families-/

Just a reminder that in addition to the training day on Friday 25th June 2021, we have transferred our cancelled training day from January, to Monday 28th June 2021. Subsequently, school will be closed to all students on Friday 25th and Monday 28th June 2021.

If your child has been in school on Thursday 27th May 2021 or Friday 28th May 2021 and develops symptoms of Covid-19 on either Saturday 29th May 2021 or Sunday 30th May 2021 that result in a positive test, please notify school by emailing:

Please include the following information:

Name of child

Their class/Year Group

Date your child last attended school

Symptoms and date/time they started

Date test taken

Preferred telephone contact details (in case school need to call you back)

We will then take appropriate action following the national advice issued to schools with contract trace.

For all other queries, please contact us via MyEd, or by emailing the office mailbox: office@beckfootthornton.org

We will respond when school re-opens.

Students can carry out lateral flow tests during the school holiday. If you have run out of tests, you can find out where to collect more from by clicking this link: Find a test centre (test-and-trace.nhs.uk)

We do advise that students carry out a test in the evening on Sunday 6th June 2021 prior to returning to school.

Thank you very much for your ongoing support. Have a lovely break.
