This role provides an opportunity to engage with one of our schools with purpose, humility and integrity. We are looking for governance members who can support us in our mission to create remarkable schools where no child is left behind.
The main purpose of the Local School Committee (LSC) is to provide scrutiny at a local level on behalf of the board. The LSC provides challenge and support to the Headteacher in the following areas to support continuous improvement:
The LSC is expected to work in the interests of the school and in line with the Trust’s core purpose and One Trust Principles at all times.
There will normally be four meetings per year of the LSC plus an additional challenge day to see the school in action. LSC members usually meet Ofsted inspectors every 4 to 5 years and they are given plenty of support to fulfill this role. At times, LSC members may be asked to support formal panels, although always following training. LSC members are invited to support and enjoy events in the school.
Our LSCs include parents, staff and members of the community with a range of different backgrounds, skills and experiences.
A key role of our LSC members is holding the Headteacher and other senior leaders to account robustly and effectively for standards. For this, it is important that you have a curious mind, can ask relevant questions and are diplomatic in approach.
We are particularly looking for individuals with a background in school leadership, education, safeguarding and people/talent. The ability to interpret data will help in the role.
The full role description is here and if you have any questions, please send an email to [email protected]
Applicants will be asked to complete a short application form and we will discuss which of our Bradford schools a candidate is best suited to before a commitment is made.
Local School Committee members perform governance functions and are therefore required to have a DBS check (Disclosure & Barring Service) to ensure suitability to work in school and are listed (name only) on Get Information about Schools (GIAS).
