Year 8 Parents’ Evening, Thursday 30th April – A Key Opportunity to Support Your Child’s Success

Home Learning

Homework

At Beckfoot Thornton we believe that homework helps develop our students to become Knowledgeable and Expert Learners by helping them to build effective study habits, develop resilience and independence. Like every activity we do in school, we only get better if we practice. Our homework strategy does this by giving students the opportunity to practice the knowledge and skills they will learn in class.

Our Homework Guide can be found below, along with links to our YouTube channel that contains video guides for students and their families.

By Year 11, a student who regularly completed their homework could be 2.5 years ahead of their peers who did not!

Our Learning Dashboards

Our Learning Dashboards contain links to a variety of systems required by students for their learning.

How can I support my child with their home learning?

  • If you are at home with your child, where possible please support them to do their very best. Take an interest in their work by asking them what they have learnt, without immediate feedback like they’d receive in the classroom, some students can lose their motivation.
  • Please encourage them to do the work they’ve been set each day and stay as available as you can to support them with it.
  • Please speak to your child about the work they have completed each day and try reward their hard work, your interest will motivate your child to keep learning and do their best.
