Beckfoot Trust is an organisation that links a group of local Bradford schools together so that they can collectively improve the life chances for young people within their schools. Our aim is to create a group of truly remarkable schools each with a genuine comprehensive intake. They will be wonderful places for young people to learn and grow up in. We want to make a difference. We want to create something special.

Headteacher's Blog 04/02/2022

Hello and welcome to my blog.

We have had a busy couple of weeks here at Beckfoot Thornton.

Last week, we really enjoyed seeing the families of our Year 9 students virtually. We cannot wait to be able to hold our parents' evenings back in school again, hopefully someday soon!

Students in Year 13 began their exams this week. They will continue into next week. It is really important that students continue to revise and carry out their exams to the best of their ability.

This week, Year 11 students were offered an exciting opportunity to meet with the National Citizenship Service. They took part in an assembly and a stall was set up, packed with information for them to help themselves to at break time.

As part of their Duke of Edinburgh Award, students have really been getting stuck in and enjoying creating delicious 'one pot wonders' after school. The smells emanating from the rooms are simply wonderful!

Our work with Emmaus is progressing well. Students have been working really hard and have showed off their creativity by upcycling furniture. It is coming on a treat!

Finally, yesterday the whole school was evacuated for a fire drill. As usual, the behaviour of our students was exemplary. Students silently, quickly and sensibly, gathered in their form groups on the astro turf. I am so proud of how responsible our students are becoming. Thank you everyone!

I hope that you have a lovely weekend.
Mr Richardson
