Key Stage 4 Options

Options choices mark an exciting point in your child’s journey at Beckfoot Thornton, when you and your child make decisions about some of the subjects that they will be studying Y10 and Y11

We want our students to be ambitious about their success and to be prepared for the opportunities, responsibilities, and experiences of adult life and to overcome any barriers to learning that they may have. Ultimately, we want them to have choices about their next stage in education, employment, and training. To do this we believe that all students can achieve great things.

Our students will study the following subjects:

- GCSE English language and literature

- GCSE Mathematics

- GCSE Science

- A humanities GCSE – Geography or History

- Religious Education

- Most students will also study a Modern Foreign Language

In addition to this, students will also choose from a range of other subjects that will result in either a GCSE or Vocational Award. Detailed information will be sent to students in a personalised booklet in Year 9 and students will be given support in school to make the right decisions through dedicated form time, assemblies and support from subject tutors.
