Transition - Year 6 to 7
Each year we excitedly wait to find out which year 6 students will be coming to our school the following September! Moving from Primary to Secondary is a big step and we take the transition process very seriously. This is why we get in touch with families who secure a place at our school in March and start to talk to primary school’s about the children then too.
We know how important transition is and that it can sometimes be a stressful and/or exciting stage in a child's educational journey. Here at Beckfoot Thornton we are dedicated to making sure that both parents and children feel as ready as possible to make that step into secondary school.
We try to visit as many of our feeder primaries as possible and also invite all the students to our transition days. These are held on the first Wednesday and Thursday of July and students come to our school on those days instead of their primary school from 9am to 2.30pm. More information gets sent to families through our Admissions+ system. This system is also where families can find our handbook and the Admissions Form which must completed once their child has been given a place. We need to have this completed so that we can have your child in our school (it contains medical and contact details etc).
Our school YouTube channel is a great place to visit as there are various transition videos on it – like a tour of the grounds.
If you need to get in touch please email the office on admissions@beckfootthornton.org or Mrs Beavers, the Transition Lead on ryb@beckfootthornton.org
