Beckfoot Trust is an organisation that links a group of local Bradford schools together so that they can collectively improve the life chances for young people within their schools. Our aim is to create a group of truly remarkable schools each with a genuine comprehensive intake. They will be wonderful places for young people to learn and grow up in. We want to make a difference. We want to create something special.

Headteacher's Blog 24/09/2021

Welcome to my blog.

This week, twenty five students took part in a JEEP (Junior Engineering Enterprise Project) workshop. The J.E.E.P aims to change perceptions of the facilities management industry, show students what a career in facilities management and engineering looks like, and open their eyes to the variety of paths available to them. Through this, the aim is to help tackle the skills gap and attract more girls to this industry. Students had a great first session......looking at mouldy bread, air conditioning and surface area, in terms of cooling. Students can't wait for the next session in October!

Last night we held our Open Evening. We were really pleased to be able  to welcome prospective families with students that are currently in Year 6, into the school to have a really good look around, sample the canteen menu and see the range of subjects and exciting activities we have on offer at Beckfoot Thornton.

I am enormously grateful to our student helpers from Year 9 and Year 10 who were on hand to support, escorting visitors around and interacting with families. They looked really smart, were extremely helpful, and portrayed a positive image of the school and the students within. Thank you to each of you!

Our after school period 6, sessions started this week for our Year 11 students. The sessions are a great way to get some extra study in and attendance is thoroughly recommended.

We now have a small stationery shop available before school and at break time for students to be able to purchase, at cost, their essential equipment for the day. This includes year group badges. A full price list is available on our website and in each tutor room. We expect our students to be knowledgeable and expert learners and this means being equipped for this!

Have a fantastic weekend.
